The Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Lab
Research Focus
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Lab (PRR) at Bar-Ilan University (BIU) aims to form a bridge between basic and applied science in the field of Pediatric Rehabilitation.
Almost a decade ago, Dr. Tamar Silberg, head of the PRR has established the Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Unit at the Sheba Medical Center, which works in synchronization with the PRR at BIU. At the lab, undergraduate, graduate and PhD students perform broad-based and comprehensive studies, targeting multiple aspects of coping with a pediatric traumatic medical events from a biopsychosocial perspective.
The research in the lab focuses on the unique experiences of children with various medical conditions undergoing rehabilitation.
Specifically, our major research interests focus on:
-
Biopsychosocial aspects of pediatric traumatic medical events (TMEs), mainly mapping the relationships between biological factors and child’s environmental factors
-
Modified psychological interventions adapted to the pediatric population, to improve physical & psychological well-being of the children and their families
-
Long-term neurological and neuropsychological outcomes in children with brain injuries
-
Traumatic childhood events, regulation skills and psychosomatic symptoms in children and adolescents
