The Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Lab
Bridging clinical practice and research to better understand how children and families cope with injury, illness, and trauma
Advancing research and clinical practice for children and families facing medical and psychological challenges
The Pediatric Rehabilitation Research Lab, led by Prof. Tamar Silberg at Bar-Ilan University, is dedicated to understanding how children and families adapt to injury, illness, trauma, and rehabilitation. Our work bridges clinical practice and research, drawing on real-world therapeutic contexts to inform meaningful scientific inquiry. Through a developmental and family-centered lens, we examine how biological, psychological, and environmental factors interact to shape adjustment and recovery across childhood.
An integrative approach to research and care
Grounded in a biopsychosocial framework, the lab focuses on pediatric traumatic medical events, brain injury, chronic illness, and the processes that support resilience and participation in daily life. We develop and evaluate interventions to improve emotional regulation, family functioning, and long-term outcomes. Our close collaboration with clinical settings, including Sheba Medical Center, ensures that our research remains both clinically relevant and practically applicable.
Training the next generation and fostering collaboration
The lab brings together MA and PhD students engaged in diverse research projects within pediatric rehabilitation psychology. We are committed not only to advancing knowledge but also to training future clinicians and researchers, and to building partnerships with professionals and institutions nationally and internationally
